This deal is from the recent Swiss Pairs at Llandudno.  Bernard Goldenfield has been one of the best players in Manchester for many decades and here he shows that he has lost little of his skill despite being in his eighties now.

After East had shown hearts and clubs Bernard declared an optimistic four spade contract from South.

West led the club six, won in dummy by the ace.  Since East seems to have most of the points Bernard played ace and another spade, won by East who exited with the third spade.  East's distribution was now likely to be 3514, so Bernard played a low diamond from each hand and East was endplayed.  She chose to lead a club, Bernard won with the jack and played two more clubs to endplay East again to lead away from the heart king.  Making ten tricks for a joint top.
