This deal from the
Green Point Swiss Teams event at Altrincham in July featured accurate
defence by East-West.
North opened a weak notrump, South transferred to spades. West's double of two hearts showed competing values with a decent heart suit. North passed to show fewer than three spades and South bid two spades to play. West led a club, East cashed three club winners and played the heart queen which West won with the ace, and returned the heart jack to the king, East ruffing. Now East played the thirteenth club, which West ruffed with the jack to set up two more trump winners for East, setting the contract by two tricks. |
