It is now twenty years since the MCBA web site started. To mark this anniversary here is the first deal featured on the web site, from the BBL Summer Congress, nicely played by the late Peter Hishmurgh.
After West has opened one spade you reach six hearts, how do you play on the ace of spades lead?
Peter ruffed the ace of spades lead, crossed back to hand with a club, led the spade queen and ruffed it when covered, then cashed the heart ace, played two rounds of diamonds to discard his losing spade and returned to hand with another club. The heart queen then pinned East's doubleton jack.
