In
one room Michael Newman chose a good moment to open an off
centre weak two diamonds. Alan Mould raised this to
four and East decided to try four hearts. This was
not a success going three off.
In
the other room John Holland opened one heart in third seat
and John Currie, in the protective seat, chose a good
moment not to protect with one spade (he would have played
in four spades going one off on a heart ruff). So
both rooms played in hearts, but from different
sides. One heart drifted one off for an eight IMP
gain for Alan Mould's team.
