This

When
the top two pairs played each other West, Chris
Ryall opened one heart, Rodney Lighton overcalled
two diamonds and Trevor Hails passed.
John
Currie bid two hearts to show a good raise in
diamonds which Chris doubled to show good
hearts. Rodney now jumped to four hearts to
show a shortage in hearts and slam interest.
When John Currie cue bid a spade control Rodney knew
that John must have something in clubs to go with
the kings of diamonds and spades and leapt to six
diamonds. Lucky or well reasoned? Anyway
Rodney and John were the only pair to reach slam,
there was nothing to the play and they scored a top
to help them win this critical match.
