A deal from an EBU online duplicate.

You play in two spades after a simple auction.

West leads the eight of hearts, you play low from dummy, the ten from East and you win with the king.
Now you cash the spade ace, dropping the queen from East and take the spade finesse.  East wins with the jack (restricted choice doesn't always work) and she then cashes the club queen and switches to a diamond.  You hopefully try the queen and it wins.  What now?

Solution

It looks as though East started with a singleton queen of clubs and was endplayed after cashing it.  John Currie  now played the heart nine and let it run to set up two hearts winners in dummy to discard the remaining clubs.  Making ten tricks for a good score.  West could have held the contract to nine tricks by overtaking the club queen and playing a diamond.
