Neeraj
(West) opened one spade with his powerful hand and
then forced to game with a three diamond rebid over
John's one notrump response.
John
gave preference to spades and Neeraj repeated
diamonds to show a five-five hand. Four hearts
showed interest in slam (last train) and Neeraj bid
four spades. John now looking at useful queens
in Neeraj's suit and the ace of clubs leapt to
five notrump - pick a slam. Neeraj chose six
diamonds as that was his better suit.
This
was a good contract, Neeraj was able to ruff one
spade in dummy to set up the suit and twelve tricks
rolled in.
Well
bid, they were the only pair to reach this slam.
