Showing 5-5 in spades and a minor.
When
West tried to find his partner's minor with a club
lead Neil Thomas was not hard pressed to make ten
tricks when the clubs broke 2-2.
However
making ten tricks on a spade lead is a little more
challenging. How do you play?

Solution
After winning the first spade and setting up the clubs, win the spade return and cash the heart ace to remove East's known singleton heart. Now
lead the diamond jack and take the diamond
finesse. The rest of the clubs follow to leave
the position below.
If
you are fairly sure that East started with the
queen and jack of spades you can exit with
a spade and East will be forced to lead away from
the diamond king at trick twelve.
