This
deal
is
from the Swiss Pairs at the EBU's Venetian Congress.
John
Holland as West played in three clubs.
On
the king of spades lead South overtook to return a
trump to stop spade ruffs in dummy. John
played the spade jack, won by North who played
another trump.
There
seems to be little hope now, but John reports this
deal as an example of never give up philosophy.
He
ran all the trumps and, mysteriously, his seven of
spades became a winner, so he cashed it. South
was now down to four cards and had to keep three
diamonds, so bared the heart king. John now
cashed the diamond king and led a heart, won by
South who had to give the last two tricks to dummy
for a complete top to E-W.
Thanks
to John Holland for reporting this deal
