This
deal
was
from a duplicate at Bramhall and Cheadle.
East's redouble showed three card spade support.
On
the lead of top diamonds from North, West ruffed the
third round and drew trumps. As trumps were
4-1 he had to use all his trumps up. But North
was squeezed out of his diamond winner and had to
come down to Qxx in the rounded suits, see below
There
is a pleasing symmetry in the final position in that
declarer can now play the ace and king of either
suit and a third round endplays North to lead away
from the queen in the other suit.
