had opened a normal weak two, South bid what
he thought he might make. West offered
an opinion that he might not and North
mysteriously redoubled.
West
led the diamond king to which everyone
followed and switched to the spade
jack. Although declarer didn't cover
this East won with the king and played the
spade ace. South trumped with the nine
and West over ruffed with the club
jack. What should West play now?

Playing
the diamond ace is safe for now, but
declarer will trump, draw the rest of the
trumps and play the jack of hearts, you will
be forced to give up a trick to the heart
king or the diamond queen. It is
better to return a club, then when you are
in with the heart queen you can exit with
the ace of diamonds and get your largest
aggregate score for a long time, +2200
.
