CORONA VIRUS UPDATE
In accordance with advice from the EBU & the Government & Public Health England the Council of
the MCBA have decided to suspend both Cup competitions immediately and postpone
the finals indefinitely
We recommend that no more face to face matches should take place until further notice.
We intend that the Cup and Plate will be played to a conclusion once face to face bridge can resume.
The finals will be scheduled whenever it is practical but they will take place even if we have
to play them next year.
On the meantime, teams who still have matches to play can play them online
if all eight players agree

Higson Cup and Plate
Named after Roy Higson, our late and greatly missed EBU Chief Tournament Director, and his wife Mary who added their expertise and humour to the region for many years.
The draws for the final qualifying rounds of the Cup and the Plate have been made
and are displayed below.
All rounds have been handicapped this year and there were no seeded teams.
As a result we are guaranteed a team from Div 5 or Div 6 in the final when Enigmas from Div 5
play 4 Bridgemates from Div 6.
Another Div 5 team, Stretford Sabres has reached the third round where they will play Deal or No Deal from Div 1
In the other matches four Div 1 teams have drawn four Div 2 teams
In the Plate draw four of the remaining Div 3 teams have been drawn against each other.
The 4 Aces from Div 7a have a bye through to the final
Ruff Diamonds will play Bombay Sapphires which means that a Div 6 team is guaranteed a place in the final.
Hopefully the Plate final could have a team representing each all eligible Divisions
Congratulations to all the teams who have reached the final stages
