Deal of the WeekManchester Congress 2026Our flagship event will be on 3rd-4th January at the Airport Hotel SK9 4LR. As usual Championship Pairs on the Saturday (including Mens, Womens and Mixed titles and Intermediate prizes). Sunday is Swiss Teams and also the Kevin Comrie cup for players NGS 9 and below. Bev Pardoe and Alick Ben FranksThe Ben Franks pairs was held at Bramhall Village Club on Sunday 7th December. A good entry of 27 pairs played two sessions. Martin Taylor and Justin Hackett lead throughout winning by 3% ahead of Peter Foster and Royce Alexander. In third place were Barbara Lewis and Alec Smalley with John Hassett and Raymond Semp fourth. These four pairs qualify to represent Manchester in the inter county Corwen Trophy next year. Bev Pardoe and Alick Rocca were the leading non-expert pair. EBU Swiss PairsCongratulations to Rhona Goldenfield who finished second playing with Tracy Sherman in the online EBU Swiss Pairs on 23rd November. Results are on the EBU web site. Lancashire CongressCongratulations to Alec Smalley and Barbara Lewis who won the Lancashire Congress Pairs on 15th November at Bury. An initial field of 40 pairs played a qualifying in the afternoon with the top 14 going through to the final. There was a good turnout from Mamchester. In the consolation event Rhona Goldenfield and David Barton won. In the teams on Sunday David and Rhona were third playing with Jeff Smith and Jackie Pye of Lancashire.
